I notice NHL 09 is schedule for release on 9/11? Have we forgotten what happend that dark day? Or, am I just being oversensitive; could the be that I am older than dirt? Why not release it on 9/10 or 9/12?

Most places will actually have it today, originally it was scheduled to be released on Sept 9th but since it takes a while to ship it some places EA advertises that it will be in stores Everywhere by the 11th. I believe it ships from Western Canada so some folks around here might not get it today, but who knows.

It is somewhat like the fact Memorial Day was intended to be a day to recognize those who gave "their all"; instead that day is a day for sales or the start of Summer. I am fairly sure they saw that date as just another day on the calendar.

I just seen a dokumentation of the horrible events at that day and the flight 93.
The one moment I could only think about the game coming out soon, but than i realised the date matches with the release of NHL 09.
I felt stupid and it made me sad and shocked again.

Either remember the date and make it a national holiday or else remove its significance from our consciousness. I have no problem with releasing it on that date because I have completely moved on from the incident. That was 9/11/2001, this is 2008. If anything, it's a grim reminder of what shortcomings our "Government" has.

I haven't "forgotten" about the date. I saw most of the events happen live on TV. I thought it was a sick joke at first and was shocked and soon realized that they were events. And I only lived a minutes away by subway from where the attacks happened in NY. So, it hit close to home for me.
But, I've moved on. I know the dates loved ones have died, but I still plan on doing things on those dates. Maybe that's just my persona, maybe I'm just bit... don't know the correct wording right now, but I could be just that

September 11th is my parents wedding anniversary.. as i'm sure for millions of people it is a birthday, a anniversary, a wedding something.. its just another day on the calender. I'm sure they projected when the game would be finished and some computer spit out "Release on second thursday in September" and it just so happened to be the 11th.
December 7th is my (future) father in laws birthday. Things happen on these days.. life goes on. It doesnt change what happened on that day.. but we cant shut the country down on every day that something like that happens, since if you went back far enough it would be 364.5 days a year.
We shoot off fireworks and grill burgers and celebrate on July 4th, which is the day after 50,000 men lost thier lives on the rolling hillsides of Gettysburg Pennsylvania. Did the founding fathers know when they signed the declaration of independence that some 84 years later the three days previous would host the bloodiest conflict of arms on american soil? Of course the didnt.

I am VERY partisan on this.... THEY attacked US.
I value my time on these boards too much to say what I REALLY feel. lest I be warned or kicked off.
I am a VERY easy going guy...but not on this.

Just to let others know, we visited DC this past summer, and while there we visited the Pentagon. They've opened a new memorial for that date, and though we were only able to see models, it looked very beautiful. I think it was opened today or sometime around now.

NHL 2009 was released Tuesday....I've had it since Tuesday. My friend got it yesterday....so it wasn't released today.
Most games at least 95% are released on Tuesdays unless they have Halo, Metal Gear, Final Fantasy or Madden in thier name. Then they are usually released Monday night...even then it's still technically Tuesday. So at some point yea NHL 2009 will be released on 9/11 but it wasn't this year to be upset about it.

All day, it never occured to me it was 9/11. I knew it was Sept. 11, and I knew and remembered what had happend 7 years ago, but until I came home and started watching a few channels here and there, it didn't really hit me. It kind of made me sick to see so much of it on television. It's for rememberance, but you have to wonder how many actually do it for rememberance, but how many stations ultimately want the ratings. I had to turn of the television and just push myself to do some more work at home.

One of the goals of the perpetrators of 9/11 is to deny us our freedom
there is no better way to honor those who have fallen than to keep
doing the things that makes this country great

Way back in HS, I had a history teacher who had been through the Bataan Death march. He had a special gift for making history more than just names and dates, he could transform those facts into flesh and blood human beings who were caught up in events greater than themselves.
His constant message for us was to seek to serve and that we, too, were to make history by being involved in efforts greater than ourselves He also told us to give a damn. His message still rings true in my life today, I am active in prison ministry try to hel people break the cycle of crime and I am president of my HOA trying to give back to my community, Along those lines: I am third. If you want to know what this means, just PM me.

sounds like he had quite an impact on your life.
The sad part is that what we consider to be war crimes today were very very common place for all countries prior to the end of the Second World War.
